The Rocky Mount Police Department has received its first-ever accreditation from the Virginia Law Enforcement Standards Commission, making it only 1 of 18 towns in the state to receive their accreditation. The Department received its accreditation award during a ceremony in Yorktown, VA on December 5. This prestigious accreditation recognizes the department’s dedication to maintaining high standards in operations, management, and community service. Achieving this accreditation demonstrates the department’s compliance with over 190 best practice standards, designed to enhance public safety, strengthen accountability, and improve the delivery of police services. Congratulations to Chief Phillip Young and all of his officers and staff!
