Notice: Utility Customer Updates
The finance office will be closed to the public from January 8-12, 2024 due to the new software upgrade! The finance department phones will not be working during this time. Please take advantage of mail delivery or our night drop (located beside the drive through window) to submit any payments. Customers always have the option to enroll in auto-draft.
Effective January 1, 2024, the following changes will be in effect:
• For customers owing a utility balance over 30 days, water will be disconnected if we do not receive payment by the 10th of the following month! The disconnection fee will change to $50 anytime utility service is disconnected. Customers on their 3rd, 6th, and 9th disconnection will be charged an additional deposit of $150.
• Credit Card fees will increase to 3.95% with a minimum fee to be collected of $2.50 anytime a debit/credit card is used. All utility and tax payments, whether in person or over the phone will be charged a credit card fee.
• Return check fees will increase to $35. If the Town of Rocky Mount receives 2 or more return checks or debit payments, we will no longer accept personal checks for any payments. All future payments must be made with cash, money order, or credit/debit card. If the Town of Rocky Mount receives 2 returned ACH/Debits on your account, you will automatically be discontinued from the auto debit program.
FYI: Town of Rocky Mount taxes will be mailed mid-January with a due date of February 29, 2024.
